Dameon Powell

Bio

Coach Dameon Powell brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the football field.

A proud husband and father of three, Coach Powell's football journey began at Sherwood High School, where he won two state championships. His success on the field earned him a scholarship to Virginia State University, where he was a four-year starter and team captain. The lessons he learned as a player at Sherwood and Virginia State have shaped his teaching and coaching philosophy.

In 2007, Coach Powell was named Head Football Coach at DuVal High School, where he transformed the program from one of the weakest in the state into a recognized powerhouse. In 2016, he took over a struggling 2–8 program at Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale, MD. Under his leadership and with a committed coaching staff, Flowers has gone undefeated in multiple regular seasons, made the playoffs every year, and reached the Maryland State Finals in 2022.

Coach Powell’s program emphasizes not only athletic excellence but also education, family, respect, teamwork, hard work, and leadership. Beyond football, he gives back to the community by coaching both high school and Little League wrestling, instilling the same core values in young athletes. In 2023, he was elected President of the Prince George’s County Football Coaches Association, a testament to his leadership and dedication to the sport.
